About this website
Give children a healthy start in life
The Great Grub Club is a website for 4–11 year olds produced by World Cancer Research Fund UK. It teaches children about healthy eating and being active in a fun way.
As the UK’s cancer prevention charity, we know that helping children get a healthy start in life is really important. That’s why we created the Great Grub Club. By encouraging children to eat healthily and be physically active from an early age, we aim to help them develop healthy habits that could help reduce their risk of developing cancer later in life.
Cancer currently affects one in two people in the UK but about a third of the most common cancers could be prevented through eating a healthy diet, being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight.
Due to the age of the target audience, the Great Grub Club website does not refer to the link between healthy living and cancer prevention, except for in the Teachers and Parents sections.
World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK) is registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales (Registered Charity No: 1000739).
In general, any information provided to the Great Grub Club website will only be used by the Great Grub Club (run by WCRF UK) and will never be given to anyone else without consent. We stipulate that children (aged 16 or under) need permission from a parent or guardian before sending us a picture, letter or joke, or entering any of the competitions we are running. Without this consent, we cannot accept personal details.
Children comments policy
Children are welcome to use our ‘Kids, have your say!’ feature to vote for their favourite activities and leave their comments. To protect children’s privacy we only request their first name and age – these fields are not mandatory, but they help us tailor our content better to our users.
When a comment is published, only the child’s first name will appear. If they contribute any other information that reveals personal information, such as surnames, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses and so on, this will be removed before the comment is published.
The administrator moderates the comments received. We aim to publish a fair balance of positive and negative comments on our comments page. Comments containing abusive language will not be published.
