Try making these pancakes for a yummy, healthy breakfast! Ask an adult to help you get together these ingredients:
FOR THE PANCAKE MIX
115g of plain flour (wholemeal is healthier)
210ml semi-skimmed milk
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
FOR THE TOPPINGS (OPTIONAL)
3 sticks of rhubarb, stewed with a little apple juice
mixed berries, like raspberries and blueberries
You will need these kitchen tools. Make sure an adult helps you to use them.
non-stick frying pan
large spoon or ladle
large mixing bowl
Remember to wash your hands before you begin.
Put the flour and baking powder into the mixing bowl and use the back of a spoon to push it out to the edges to make a well in the middle.
Next carefully crack the egg into the middle of the bowl.
Now slowly add the milk bit by bit, stirring the mixture together as you do it.
Keep stirring the mixture together until it becomes a smooth liquid.
This is called a 'batter'.
Now ask an adult to help you put a drop of sunflower oil in the frying pan and heat it on the hob.
When the oil is hot spoon 3 large spoonfuls of pancake batter into the pan to make 3 small pancakes.
Let the pancakes cook for about a minute until they are turning brown.
Then flip them over using the fish slice.
Cook them for about another minute.
Now use the fish slice to take the pancakes out of the pan and put them onto a plate.
Add the toppings that you like and enjoy eating them!
